Cypress Creek Renewables and Oregon Tech Announce Partnership for Student Scholarships and Mentorship
September 8, 2023 – Cypress Creek Renewables (Cypress Creek) and the Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech) are pleased to announce that they have partnered again to support STEM education and strengthen Oregon’s renewable energy workforce. As part of this continued partnership, Cypress Creek has committed to an additional $120,000 investment for Oregon Tech student scholarships and sponsorships over the next four years.
This renewed collaboration includes establishing a Cypress Creek Renewables Distinguished Fellowship, a scholarship that will be awarded to two students from underserved populations who are studying specific engineering or STEM subjects that lead to careers in renewable energy, with the opportunity to renew the scholarship for up to three years.
The Cypress Creek-Oregon Tech partnership also features a long-term mentorship program designed to allow Cypress Creek staff to share professional expertise with Oregon Tech students and financial support for STEM-related Oregon Tech events such as IdeaFest, Catalyze Klamath, and career fairs.
“We are very excited to recommit to our partnership with Cypress Creek for another four years,” said Dr. Ken Fincher, Executive Director of the Oregon Tech Foundation. “We look forward to building on and expanding our previous efforts as we continue to support the development of students into professionals in the renewable energy workforce.”
“As more Pacific Northwest cities and states transition to renewable energy, the number of jobs available in renewable energy will grow by leaps and bounds,” said Tai Wallace, Senior Director of West Transmission for Cypress Creek Renewables. “For Oregon Tech students who are interested in the field and want to be part of the state’s burgeoning clean energy economy, we look forward to helping set them up for success.”
The names of the two students chosen for the inaugural fellowship will be announced on October 28 at a scholarship banquet at Oregon Tech’s Klamath Falls campus.
