LAURINBURG, N.C. (September 3, 2024) – During their recent Convocation program, Scotland County Schools announced a $100,000 financial commitment to the district from Cypress Creek Renewables, an integrated solar and storage company that develops, owns and operates solar and storage projects. The partnership reflects Cypress Creek’s dedication to supporting the local community and investing in the future of the county’s students and staff.

Dr. Adell Baldwin, district superintendent, shared with the staff in attendance that the funds from Cypress Creek will be allocated toward initiatives supporting and celebrating staff and students within the district. Dr. Baldwin noted that this commitment will provide valuable resources for initiatives that enhance and recognize our school community’s hard work and dedication.

“We are incredibly grateful to Cypress Creek for their generosity and support,” said Dr. Baldwin. “This is an amazing gift that will significantly impact our ability to provide opportunities for our students and staff. On behalf of the Board of Education, we sincerely thank Cypress Creek Renewables for their commitment to our community and for helping us create a brighter future for all.”

As part of their commitment, Cypress Creek sponsored this year’s district-wide Convocation, a special event that marks the beginning of the school year and celebrates the dedication of educators and staff. Cypress Creek’s support helped make the event a memorable and inspiring start to the academic year. Mike Storch, Cypress Creek’s Manager of External Affairs, was on hand to make the joint announcement.

“Cypress Creek Renewables is committed to giving back to the communities where we live and work,” said Storch. “We are honored to partner with Scotland County Schools to support the important work they do in educating and nurturing the next generation. This commitment is just one way we hope to make a positive impact on the lives of students and staff and truly, the Scotland County community as a whole.”
