Cypress Creek Renewables Hosts White House to Highlight Technologies that Advance America’s Clean Energy Goals

Durham, NC -- On Thursday, July 25, Cypress Creek Renewables, a leading solar and storage developer and independent power producer, hosted a tour and roundtable discussion with Dr. Heather Boushey, Chief Economist for the Invest in America Cabinet at the White House, at the company’s national solar and storage control center in Research Triangle Park, NC. During the tour and roundtable, the Cypress Creek team and Dr. Boushey discussed the challenges and opportunities for renewable energy growth. They also discussed the importance of training the next generation of workers with the technical skills to operate new energy systems, highlighting and touring the Cypress Creek Control Center (C4).

The Cypress Creek team and Dr. Boushey were joined by North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall, Deputy North Carolina Secretary of State Tim Crowley, Mayor of Durham Leonardo Williams, Mayor of Morrisville TJ Cawley, and Raleigh City Councilwoman Stormie Forte.

Opened in 2018, the Cypress Creek Control Center (C4) is a centralized hub where the company can conduct 24/7/365 monitoring of almost 500 solar and storage facilities on behalf of Cypress Creek and third-party customers. The C4 operators use state-of-the-art technology to remotely monitor performance, output and weather in real time to direct the organization during major weather events, remotely troubleshoot, and escalate outage response actions to Cypress Creek field teams for nearly 5 gigawatts of assets across 24 states.

“The benefit of the energy transition extends far beyond the companies directly developing, owning, and operating solar, storage, and clean energy projects,” Brian Case, Executive Vice President of Cypress Creek Solutions, the renewable company’s leading operations and maintenance business, said. “The opportunity to engage with the President’s Economic Advisory Council on the many accomplishments, opportunities, and challenges across the solar industry is deeply valued by the Cypress Creek team and we look forward to the continued benefits of the Investing in America agenda and the support of the Administration and our local leaders to drive the energy transition and maintain the United States’ position as a world energy leader.”

“Since Day One of this Administration, President Biden and Vice President Harris have committed to growing the economy from the middle-out and bottom-up. They passed historic legislation to invest in America – the American Rescue Plan, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Inflation Reduction Act, and the CHIPS and Science Act – rebuilding our infrastructure, lowering costs, and creating opportunities for families, workers, and businesses,” Heather Boushey, Chief Economist for the Invest in America Cabinet, said. “As we tap into local innovation, we expand the economy’s capacity to produce and create good jobs in communities across the country—including through strengthening high-growth industries.”

Cypress Creek is backed by EQT Partners, a purpose-driven global investment organization.

“Cypress Creek’s National Storage and Control Center is a prime example of the important work the company is doing to accelerate the energy transition, ensure our infrastructure is equipped for the next generation of our energy system, and help secure consistent energy delivery” said Alex Darden, EQT Partner and Head of Infrastructure, Americas. "By collaborating with local partners to train skilled, technical professionals, Cypress Creek is undertaking a mission critical goal that will supply its workforce with the knowledge and capability to realize a greener future. EQT is proud to invest behind this crucial endeavor and looks forward to continuing to support the company as it works to transform our nation’s energy infrastructure."

The C4 is just one of a handful of North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) – Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) compliant control centers in the country operated by a solar and storage company. When opened in 2018, the C4 received bipartisan support from members of North Carolina’s congressional delegation, who touted the C4’s potential to spark America’s transition towards renewable energy.
