American Energy Society Interviews CCR Chairman Ben Van De Bunt

March 28, 2017

As a solar farm developer with over a gigawatt of operational sites and a pipeline of over 5 gigawatts, Cypress Creek is making good on its mission to put as much solar into the ground as possible. To make this happen, one of the most important aspects of our business strategy to date has been community building. From hyper-local efforts, including participating in community trash clean-up days and food drives to serving on national boards like the Solar Energy Industry Association, community is at the heart of what we do, and we are committed to participating in the conversations and outreach efforts that will help make solar an energy mainstay in the United States.

This week, the American Energy Society (AES), a non-profit, non-partisan networking organization for energy industry professionals, will publish an interview that AES Community Manager Logan Jenkins conducted recently with long-time society member and Cypress Creek Renewables Chairman, Ben Van de Bunt.

AES, founded in 1957 and reinstated in 2011, serves a member pool that includes academics, business professionals, politicians, investors and subject matter experts, among others. The organization strives to be the most comprehensive networking platform for those working in the energy industry. Ben Van de Bunt has been a valued society member since 2012. He is credited with advising the society to take a data-driven strategy in identifying industry trends—advice that, in turn, helped the society build its member base from 9,000 members in 2012 to the 175,000 members it has today.

The AES interview explores questions pertaining to Cypress Creek Renewables, our vision and our plans for the future. Topics covered include Cypress Creek’s recent acquisition of North Carolina engineering, construction and procurement of firm FLS Energy, where Cypress Creek stands on clean energy in America’s future and how and where energy storage fits into the greater Cypress Creek mission of delivering clean, affordable, renewable electricity to the greatest number of people.

The article also notes how Cypress Creek’s own data-driven strategy has allowed us to successfully and efficiently identify underutilized land in states across the country to be used for the development of small, utility-scale solar farms.

We’re proud to be a part of the American Energy Society, and we value its voice and contributions to the promotion of clean energy, energy storage and solar technology. We’re grateful for the opportunity to tell our story to the AES community, and we hope the dialogue continues.
