Betabox Learning and Cypress Creek Renewables Partner to Bring Hands-On Learning Experiences to K12 Schools in Wayne and Duplin County Schools

February 13th 2023 – Raleigh, NC – Cypress Creek Renewables, a leading renewables developer and independent power producer, and Betabox Learning, a leading provider of mobile STEM educational experiences have partnered to bring hands-on learning experiences to K12 schools in Wayne and Duplin Counties in North Carolina.

Through this partnership, more than 800 students will have the opportunity to learn about renewable energy, electronics engineering, and sustainable technology through interactive and engaging experiences. The intention of this program is to spark interest in high-paying technology careers in the solar industry amongst middle and high school students in Wayne and Duplin county schools.

“We are thrilled to partner with Cypress Creek Renewables to bring these impactful learning experiences to students in Wayne and Duplin County. Our hope is that students that participate in these events will be inspired to pursue a career in STEM.” said Sean Newman Maroni, CEO of Betabox Learning.

“This partnership aligns with our mission to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders and provide them with the skills they need to succeed in the 21st century workforce," Tyler Norris, Cypress Creek Renewables Vice President of Development, said. “We are excited to partner with Betabox Learning to bring hands-on, experiential learning about renewable energy to students in Wayne and Duplin Counties, where we own 12 operational sites and operate even more. Cypress Creek is invested and investing in the future of North Carolina and this partnership is a great opportunity for students to learn about the important role renewable energy plays in our communities and the world.”

The specialized mobile STEM lab has already visited North Duplin High School and Eastern Wayne High School, where students learned to program solar-powered Arduino microcontrollers. After the departure of the Betabox mobile unit, the teachers that participated in the event received access to hands-on lesson plans and equipment to continue to sustain the enthusiasm amongst students in the classroom.

Cypress Creek and Betabox Learning hope to soon expand this opportunity into other North Carolina counties as well. Any school in the eligible counties can apply to receive the mobile lab at no cost here: https://betaboxlearning.com/apply
