Cypress Creek team raises $47,316 for COVID-19 relief

As an organization, we believe that we are at our best when we take care of each other. Today, we’re proud to share that in response to the devastation caused by COVID-19, our Cypress Creek team has raised $47,316 to supply communities where our people and projects are located with needed food and medical resources.

This was truly a Cypress Creek-people led effort. Team members from across the company selected nonprofits in their communities serving urgent needs and 159 Cypress people contributed $23,658, with Cypress Creek matching the donations dollar for dollar. The organizations are: Feeding the Carolinas, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, Houston Food Bank, SF New Deal, NYC Health + Hospitals and One Buncombe

Four of the seven organizations that Cypress people selected are food banks. In talking with Feeding the Carolinas, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Food Bank of the Hudson Valley and Houston Food Bank, we are hearing firsthand that need to for their resources has dramatically increased like nothing they have seen before -- not even after major hurricanes.

Roger Castle, Chief Development Officer of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, told us that the economic crisis has led to a significant increase in the demand for food assistance in the Los Angeles community, and funding is needed now more than ever. He added that Cypress Creek’s contribution will provide enough funding for more than 40,000 meals to feed individuals and families in need.

Mike Darrow, executive director of Feeding the Carolinas, said that a $25 donation provides a food box that serves a family for a week with badly needed food. He continued, “Our efforts to feed those are in need throughout the Carolinas, especially during this pandemic, are only possible by partners and supporters like Cypress Creek, who understand and support our mission. This support is greatly appreciated and will help us to continue to provide food, and hope, to our friends and neighbors.”

Paul A. Stermer, Director of the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, said “We are so grateful to community partners like Cypress Creek Renewables for their support during these challenging times. We are truly blessed to be part of a community filled with individuals and organizations who understand that we are all in this together. That’s more important than ever as we navigate through this period of unprecedented need.”

Cypress Creek will continue to look for opportunities to serve our communities throughout this pandemic. We are grateful for the organizations that are the front lines of distributing resources and our people for their generosity.
