Cypress Creek Renewables Recognized as a 2018 Top Solar Developer

More than 10.6 gigawatts of solar power were installed last year in the United States, with utility scale solar making up 60% of this. Utility scale solar installer Cypress Creek Renewables has been recognized by Solar Power World magazine for its contributions to the industry ranking as the No. 2 overall “Top Solar Contractor”, and No. 1 Solar Developer in the US.

The Top Solar Contractors list is developed by Solar Power World to recognize the work completed by solar contractors (EPC, developers, manufacturers, installers) across the United States. Produced annually, the Top Solar Contractors list celebrates the achievements of U.S. solar developers, construction subcontractors, and installers within the utility, commercial and residential markets, and ranks contractors by kilowatts installed in the previous year. The 2018 list was released on July 24.

"Solar Power World is very excited about the 2018 class of Top Solar Contractors," said Kelly Pickerel, editor in chief of Solar Power World. "Our 2017 list showed impressive installation numbers after 2016's huge rush to meet ITC requirements, and many companies were hesitant to show unavoidable installation dips after last year's high. We're happy to feature a strong group of thriving U.S. solar installers on the 2018 Top Solar Contractors list. These companies truly are at the top of their markets."

The U.S. solar market had its biggest year ever in 2016, installing more than 15 GW. In 2017, installation were at 10.6 GW, a total representing 40% growth from the 2015 numbers. In 2017 alone, Cypress Creek built 870 megawatts of solar infrastructure in North Carolina, South Carolina, Oregon, Texas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, and Vermont. In December 2017, Cypress Creek reached a major construction milestone of 1 gigawatt of solar built over the prior 18 months, capping the company’s strongest year yet.

A major highlight of 2017 was the non-residential market growing 28% year-over-year, the fourth straight year of annual growth for commercial, industrial and community solar. In 2017, 30% of all new electric generating capacity brought online in the United States came from solar, second only to new natural gas capacity.

Cypress Creek Renewables’ 1 gigawatt of solar energy helped create more than 9,000 local jobs during construction. In addition, Cypress Creek has spurred over $1 billion in local investment through the construction of renewable energy infrastructure and projects since 2016, the vast majority of which was built using US manufactured steel and American equipment providers. Cypress Creek Renewables partners with local communities and utilities to provide widespread access to affordable, clean energy. Cypress Creek Renewables’ solar solutions produce energy at or below market costs, while its locally based development strategy allows it to deploy solar where the power is needed most. With well over $2 billion raised and invested and over 8 gigawatts of local solar farms deployed or in development, Cypress Creek Renewables is the largest and fastest-growing dedicated provider of local solar farms.

Cypress Creek is thrilled to be recognized by Solar Power World as a 2017 Top Solar Contractor. We had a great year in large part due to the hard work of our excellent EPC and development team, as well as our partnerships with landowners, communities, investors, and utilities throughout the country,” said Peter Farlekas, President, Engineering, Procurement and Construction, Cypress Creek.
