Cypress Creek Renewables Announces Solar Job Training Initiative in South Carolina

Solar Jobs in the Palmetto State

We’re driven by a belief that solar and renewable energy can enhance our nation’s energy independence and create good-paying, local jobs in communities across the country. We’ve aligned our entire business around our mission to install as much solar in the ground as possible, as fast as possible.

We can’t achieve this goal on our own.

This past week our team had the opportunity to launch the solar industry’s first-of-its-kind workforce development partnership with Greenville Technical College in Greenville, South Carolina. Greenville Tech has been a leading solar training provider in the region since the early 2000s and has graduated hundreds of students who have gone on to join the solar industry. Partnering with the college was a natural fit for us. Greenville Tech will be able to develop new curriculum, hire new instructors, and offer tuition assistance for students, with a focus on veterans with this program.

South Carolina’s solar industry is rapidly growing. Our company alone expects to invest $1.5 billion and build 2 gigawatts of solar to power nearly 600,000 homes with affordable energy over the next five years. To get this work done, we’ll need to hire and create 10,000 local construction jobs. Our partnership with Greenville Tech will build a robust pipeline of trained and skilled workers ready to join the industry.

At our launch event, we were honored to have the support of South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster and to be joined by two elected officials from the South Carolina House of Representatives, Rep. Mike Burns and Rep. Dwight Loftis, both of Greenville County. Governor McMaster and Representatives Burns and Loftis have advocated for solar in their home state for years. They see the economic potential solar brings to the towns and cities they serve.

We’re proud to partner with Greenville Technical College and thrilled for what lies ahead.
